Dan's wife, Marge, received a phone call from a relative in Hong Kong @ 4:00 a.m. this morning with news of the earthquake that centered about 200 miles south of Santiago, Chile this morning.
Approximately 1/2 hour later Marge was able to reach Dan at his hotel in Santiago (they were using a backup generator) and confirmed that he and his group are all OK. They planned to pack up their gear and head out as soon as possible.
We will post updates on their situation as further information becomes available.

I am located in Olympia, WA. & am a friend of Harlan Rosacker. I have family in Santiago & friends in Los Angeles, Chile. You gentlemen remind me of "The Motorcycle Diaries" of Che Gueverra. I was in Torres del Paine (Chilean side)in 2007...the south of Chile & Patagonia are spectacular! Look up the group Chile CAD Davis on FB & you will have another connection to Chile from California!
